TRAVERSO
is a quarterly package of news and information to connect
and inform everyone interested in the history of the flute
and its music.
Each issue carries a short outline of a topic
of interest to historical flutists. In the first twenty
years (1989-2008), articles have appeared on instruments and
materials, performance practice, pitch and tuning, technique,
repertory and music publishing, biography, chronology, and
commentary. News items cover events, competitions, new recordings
and editions, personalities, instruments for sale, new articles
and books. Occasionally, selected significant new publications,
music and recordings are reviewed.
The newsletter is abstracted by RILM Abstracts of Music Literature, the premier guide to writings about music.
Volumes 1-10 were reissued in a bound volume that is now out of print. Volumes 11-20 will be reprinted
in book form in 2009.
