TRAVERSO is a quarterly package of news and information to connect and inform everyone interested in the history of the flute and its music.

Each issue carries a short outline of a topic of interest to historical flutists. In the first nineteen years (1989-2007), articles have appeared on instruments and materials, performance practice, pitch and tuning, technique, repertory and music publishing, biography, chronology, and commentary. News items cover events, competitions, new recordings and editions, personalities, instruments for sale, new articles and books. Occasionally, selected significant new publications, music and recordings are reviewed.

The newsletter is abstracted by RILM Abstracts of Music Literature, the premier guide to writings about music.

Volumes 1-10 have been reprinted in book form, and single back issues are available on paper or on CD from Volume 11 onward.
